The K40 relay is located in the control module box, under the hood. In left-hand-drive R170 SLKs, this box is near the exhaust manifold. A heat shield and a blower motor keep the electronics in the box cool. A non-functioning blower can be a root cause.
132 posts · Joined 2011. #3 · Sep 13, 2012. I repaired the ABS module on my 98 Volvo V70. As you say - very much like a K40 repair, except that it was harder to open the ABS module box on the Volvo. As I recall, there was a clear coat of silicone on the PCB in the Volvo - don't know if that is the case on the MB.
4) The rear vertical glove box on the back wall, open it, the top portion is attached with two small torx screws (one on each side near corners). After you remove the screws, its easy to pop off, remove the speaker wires. Lay the front of the box forward on the center console. 5) Move both seats fully forward.
