In that aspect the first iteration of LOL lore is fin but it's not good writing. The "fighting league" could be a good lore if the characters are written in a way they have a reason to fight in a such sporting league. That way the characters and events have a meaning and you can symphatize with each character. Honestly this kind of stuff makes me sad because they should have a dedicated lore team thats pumping out consistent content. The priorities of Riot is so backwards because it doesn't make any sense how you're trying to expand the league of legends universe but not have the written solid air tight content to do it.
