Posted January 13, 2014. Rear disc brakes are definetely a big improvement to the standard drum brakes. The car is much more stable on the rear end when braking. Retrofitting rear disc brakes on a Focus MK2/MK2.5 is relatively easy. It is basically a matter of removing the drum brakes and bolting on the disc brake parts.
Three sizes of diesel engine are available, with the 1.6 and 2.0-litre models being shared by Citroën and Peugeot – a result of joint projects between Ford and PSA (Citroën/Peugeot’s parent company), whilst the 1.8-litre unit is of Ford’s own design, and is carried over from the previous Focus model. The car is a 2006 Mk2 Focus, with the 1.8 TDCi engine. The only thing to watch is that the Halfords 5-30 ford oil is semi synthetic. They do a Fully Synthetic

Okay perhaps a subjective topic, getting a bit more power/response from your Focus So I've read a lot of posts about the mk2.5 Focus 1.6 (non Ti-VCT) petrol duratec engine being underpowered and sluggish. Yes these are heavy cars, yes 100bhp is not a lot for a car of this weight, must be like 90bhp per tonne roughly.
Ford prescribes that the green power steering fluid can also be used to top up a system that has the red power steering fluid in it. This basically means that both types of power steering fluid can be mixed. However I would personally not recommend this. I have a 58 Ford Focus 1.6 zetec mk2 facelift, 85k miles.
